Wiser Stock Dogs & Family Pets
Wiser Stock Dogs & Family Pets
My Name is Tiffany Wiser and I truly want to strive for...”wiser” stock dogs and family pets.
My husband and I run an Outfitting business
together in Wyoming (see our website:
www.wyomingcountryoutfitters.com) As a hobby
and passion for “good obedient dogs” I love to
help teach dogs to become just that!
There is no better place to train dogs than the “high country” of Wyoming. Here they teach themselves along with my help to bring out their “natural” talents. The dogs are with us 24/7 running free, unlike other dogs that live on a chain and learn in their backyard...My dogs live in the “backcountry”.
They learn to cross rivers, they learn to think for themselves in finding the best way to travel..to stay out of the way from our pack string, what wild animals are, and they learn that those animals are not cattle to chase! See video clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r3TkTd80WZM
I start teaching puppies around 10 weeks old. Each puppy is an individual and accordingly, each one learns differently and at different levels or speeds. Some learn quickly, some take longer, even if they are from the same litter. It’s not to different then finding out your own kids’ likes, talents, and interests.
The first group of commands I teach are the “Basic Commands”: Come, Sit, Stay, There, Down & That’ll do. These commands can be learned on average as soon as 4 months old or as late as 10 months old.
The second group of commands I teach are called the “Advanced Stock Dog Commands”: Walk up, Steady, Away to me, Come bye, Come behind, In Front and Sick em. These commands can be learned between a year old and three years old.
Other commands I teach are: Load up, On Out, Go in, Hunt em up, and Track it.

I love to see and hear that the dogs I’ve trained and their new owners enjoy each other’s company and friendship because of the clearness and understanding they have for one another!
